Indian decorative head, a hand-carved face
This decorative papier-mâché head is inspired by the popular figures crafted by Indian artisans for generations, often seen in processions and village festivals. Each facial feature is sculpted and then hand-painted, using the same technique as the wall masks in the Kiff Kiff collection.
Its creation involves several steps: shaping the form in paper pulp over a base, natural drying, light sanding, then detailed painting of the facial features. These manual steps give each piece its unique expression; no two heads have exactly the same gaze.
Standing or hanging, this 26 cm piece adds true character to a bohemian or ethnic decor, either alone or combined with other handcrafted objects from India such as wall masks or brass statues.
