Jambaban Yellow and Blue Wall Mask – Handmade Papier-Mâché from Odisha
This wall mask depicts Jambaban, a figure associated with wisdom and protection in Indian tradition. Its yellow and blue version contrasts with the other color variations of the same model (yellow-green, white-blue) in the collection, offering a more vibrant contrast between sun-like warmth and coolness.
Crafted from papier-mâché using the technique practiced in the Odisha region, this mask is the result of a long artisanal process: sculpting the base, layering paper pulp, natural drying, and then entirely hand-painting.
No two pieces are strictly identical, as the slight variations in relief and finish are the signature of this entirely handmade work.
