Asha Brass Necklace – Dhokra Coin Bib

Asha is a brass bib necklace made of small, round, hammered brass pieces arranged in an arc. The coin motif is one of the oldest and most widespread in Dhokra craftsmanship, historically associated with prosperity and jewelry worn during village festivals in Odisha. Unlike Devi's scalloped bib with triangular tassels, Asha's pieces are flat and round, giving a more understated and contemporary look.

Each piece is individually hammered from raw brass, not cast. This is the main technical difference between Asha and the other Dhokra necklaces in the collection. Hammering creates a slightly concave surface with visible micro-impacts, a worn and patinated look from the outset that reinforces the impression of an ancient coin. The connecting rings between the pieces are hand-threaded onto the black cord, allowing the whole piece to move freely. A brass piece of jewelry in the vocabulary of ancient gold rather than new jewelry.

Features

  • Material: hammered brass, adjustable black cord
  • Length: 62 cm
  • Finish: antique patinated gold
  • Origin: Odisha, India
  • Entirely handmade, unique piece

How to wear it

Asha is the easiest brass bib necklace to wear every day: its rounded coin motif is less imposing than Sita's spirals and suits a casual outfit. Pair it with Kavya earrings for a coherent brass jewelry set that plays on the same antique gold tone.
